Facebook & Twitter without Internet- Emergency Use!

How to Use Facebook & Twitter Without Internet- Great for Emergencies!

HOW TO USE FACEBOOK & TWITTER WITHOUT INTERNET!

With Hurricane Sandy brewing, much of the Eastern US will be without power, and the internet.  Thanks to Mashable, here are instructions on how to set up your mobile phone to post on your social networks.

How can you still post on Facebook and Twitter to let your friends and family know that everything is fine? Or ask for help?

You can use good-old text messages.

To tweet, first you need to enable your mobile phone on Twitter.com, so do it now while you can. Go to your Twitter homepage, then to “Settings” and then “Mobile.” Insert your cellphone number under “Activate Twitter text messaging,” and then you’ll have to text “GO” to the number 40404.twitter iphone

Once you’ve done that, you should receive a text message telling you that your phone is now activated. You should also see new settings on the webpage that allow you to enable or disable text notifications.

Now, to tweet, just write a text and send it to 40404.

To find out more about how to use other Twitter functionalities without an Internet connection, check Twitter’s official guide.

facebook mobile

If you prefer Facebook… you can access it with texting too!

You can update your status via SMS as well and the social network also gives you the ability to subscribe to your friends’ updates and even use Facebook chat. Again, to access these functionalities, you first need to link your mobile phone to your Facebook account.

Log into Facebook.com and go to your “Account Settings,” which you can find under the arrow next to your name on the top bar. Then go to “Mobile,” introduce your number and click on “Activate Text Messaging.” You’ll have to select your country and your carrier. Once you’ve done that, follow the instructions on the screen and text the letter “F” to the number 32665.

Finally, you will receive a confirmation number on your phone. Insert that number on the page. You should then receive a text message that will confirm that your phone is activated.

Now, to update your status, you simply have to write it in a text and send it to 32665.

“Forever Marilyn” in Palm Springs gets a Pedicure!

Largest Pedicure Ever… Marilyn in Palm Springs!

 Marilyn Monroe

Largest pedicure ever... "Forever Marilyn" Palm Springs

Marilyn Monroe is in Palm Springs… in case you didn’t know.  This week she was pampered with the largest pedicure ever!

If you are visiting the Palm Springs area come downtown and see her.  She is waiting for you!

Marilyn Monroe

"Forever Marilyn" in Palm Springs

While in Palm Springs don’t miss the 26 ft. tall sculpture of Marilyn Monroe by American artist and Johnson & Johnson heir Seward Johnson. The sculpture is inspired by the famous photograph by Bernard of Hollywood from the film The Seven Year Itch. She is located at what many call the corner of “Main and Main,” Palm Canyon & Tahquitz Canyon Way in the heart of downtown Palm Springs.

Marilyn Monroe has many legendary ties to Palm Springs. To name a few, she was photographed and “discovered” by Johnny Hyde from the William Morris Agency at Charlie Farrell’s Racquet Club. She was also rumored to have frequented a Movie Colony estate with Joe DiMaggio, currently known as the Sand Acre Estate, and owned a 1950’s bungalow-style house in Las Palmas.

In May of 2012, “Forever Marilyn” made her journey to Palm Springs from Pioneer Court along famed Michigan Ave in Chicago.

Arnold Palmer’s Birthday Today!

Happy Birthday Arnold Palmer!

Happy Birthday Arnold Palmer!  Arnie is 83 years old today!Arnold Palmer

Not only is Arnold Palmer one of the greatest golfers to have ever played the game… he is also a man who changed the sport with his humility, charm, and connection to his fans.

Nicknamed “The King,” he is one of golf’s most popular stars and its most important trailblazer, because he was the first superstar of the sport’s television age, which began in the 1950s. He is part of “The Big Three” in golf, along with Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, who are widely credited with popularizing and commercialising the sport around the world.

Palmer won seven major championships:

We are very lucky to live near Arnold Palmer’s Restaurant in La Quinta~ he helped choose the menu and hundreds of photos of  Arnie grace the walls there.  He designed the nearby Tradition Golf Club, and he also has a home there.

During our winter season we are lucky enough to see Arnie at his restaurant many times~ having dinner and sharing stories with friends and locals. He is a man of the people and it shows in everything he does.

Happy Birthday Arnie~ from your fans in La Quinta!

Foreclosures and Short-Sales: Hearts Left Behind

hearts left behind

We closed on a home in the La Quinta Cove neighborhood last week and it has been added to our investors portfolio.  We will begin a rehab project to get it in shape for tenants and then help another family move in.

This is the 20th home purchased by just one investor.  Many are competing for these ‘distressed’ properties in La Quinta, and throughout the country.  Our investor intends to buy 50 homes and I am grateful to represent him.  We have consistently pursued  these homes and are thrilled when they meet his requirements and the sales close.

Although these reasonably priced homes will provide safe, clean rental houses for displaced families…. sometimes we forget about the families that had to move out.  Why did they have to move? Where are they now?

This home had a rock garden outside the front door with many different heart shaped stones.  Our termite inspector noticed them and took a few home for his wife.  I brought a few more home and ‘planted’ them in our front yard.

A daily reminder of  the Hearts Left Behind.

Happy Mother’s Day…remembering Penne

Sunday, May 13th, 2012

Happy Mother’s Day, remembering Penne

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you who are mothers and to my mom,  Penne~  I was truly blessed to have you for my mother.

penne and kathy

If your Mom is gone… know that she is still with you, watching over you, and she will always be there for you.

When I find a penny… I know my Mom, Penne  is thinking about me and sending her love.

A mom’s hug lasts long after she lets go.  ~Author unknown
